Suzhou Rail Transit (SRT) Line 11 had its final acceptance check recently. A total of 14 experts from Nanjing, Wuxi, Changzhou, Xuzhou, and Nantong conducted a comprehensive inspection of the stations, equipment, electromechanical system, rolling stock depot, control center, main substation, and supporting facilities of the line.
SRT Line 11 is the first cross-city rail transit line in Suzhou and also the first line connecting with the Shanghai rail transit network. As a demonstration project of infrastructure connectivity in the Yangtze River Delta, it will be an important means of public transportation between Suzhou city proper, Kunshan, and Shanghai, which will not only promote the integrated development of Suzhou city but also facilitate the coordinated development of the cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.
With a total length of 41.25 kilometers, Line 11 runs between Weiting Station in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and Huaqiao Station in the Suzhou-administered county-level city of Kunshan. All of its 28 stations are underground stations. The new SRT line started operation safety assessments on June 5 and more than 10,000 local residents will be invited to take a test ride soon. The line is expected to be put into use in late June.
